abilities: Baixi is a baseline human with no metahuman abilities. But he is a skilled programmer and engineer, and has designed and built many gadgets that the Justice League of China uses, including his B.U.V., which can transform from a regular SUV into a flying car, a submarine, and a giant mech; and Robinbot, who is an advanced enough AI to almost be a full fledged member of the JLC team. He is also a proficient hand-to-hand fighter, master hacker, and brilliant investigator.

There are many ways in which Baixi is like American Batman— he's incredibly smart, resourceful, and pragmatic. He's a brilliant inventor, a skilled hacker, and able to go toe to toe with villains in a fight even without any superpowers himself. He even can be a sourpuss who hates fun, just like Batman.

But there are also many ways in which he’s different. For one, he's much younger, and has the nerves of youth to go along with it. He's easily flustered, and has a tendency to babble nervously when faced with someone he admires. He's more likely to let his emotions interfere with his ability to get the job done, as much as he tries to focus on logic. He's less confident, while simultaneously still quite boastful. He can be petty and engage in childish rivalries, but when push comes to shove, he's unfalteringly loyal to his friends.

Perhaps the biggest difference between American Batman and Bat-Man of China, however, is that there’s no "Bruce Wayne," in the sense of a public civilian persona meant to throw others off from discovering Batman's true identity. Bat-Man is Baixi, and Baixi is Bat-Man. His personality doesn't change in the suit or out of it. He's spent his whole life training to become Bat-Man, working within a government-funded system to turn himself into the hero that China needs and deserves. When it became clear that the Ministry of Self-Reliance's leadership didn't have his (or China's) best interests at heart, however, he was ready and willing to follow his friends and break away from the Ministry, forming a Justice League free from any government interest or oversight.

Baixi and Peng Deilan were the first two members of the Justice League of China to be chosen by the Ministry. As such, they share a close bond that started as friendship, but easily blossomed into romance. When Kong Kenan was recruited into becoming Super-Man, his careless attitude and lack of discipline or training put him and Baixi immediately at odds. They teased each other relentlessly, calling each other "Tubby" and "Dummy." However, as they worked more closely together, and uncovered that the Ministry was hiding information from them, they became friends, and soon those nicknames became terms of endearment, rather than insults.

When Baixi learned that Deilan was really Green Snake, a centuries-old snake who had channeled her qi to become human, he felt conflicted. Part of him couldn't accept the truth, and was repulsed by the sight of the young woman he loved as a giant scaly beast. But, with Kenan's help, he realized that she was still Deilan, no matter her form, and he still loved her and still wanted to fight by her side. Deilan’s more sensitive and forgiving than Baixi, and while sometimes this leads them to disagree on the best course of action, she’s helped him understand that sometimes it's best to let your heart make the decisions instead of your head.

Aside from his teammates, Baixi is closest with his younger sister Jiali. They both attended the Academy of the Bat, and even though Baixi was chosen to become Bat-Man, it was Jiali who scored highest on all the aptitude tests. Her dream was to become the Robin to Baixi's Bat-Man, but when that ended up being impossible, her heart soured, and she instead turned to exposing the Ministry's corruption, through chaos and underhanded means. She became Alpaca, more Joker-esque than Robin-like. Baixi's greatest wish is to bring her back into the light, but his greatest fear is that he will lose his resolve and join her, instead.
